Frankfort man charged in Monday hit-and-run that left 52-year-old woman dead

Tyler Couch of Frankfort is being held on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in connection to the deadly collision

An arrest has been made in the fatal hit-and-ran crash on 1234 US 127 South that resulted in the death of 52-year-old Carey Covington in Frankfort on Monday night.

Frankfort police reported that Tyler Couch has been arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection to the crash. He has also been charged with leaving the scene of an accident/ failure to render aid or assistance and falsely reporting an incident.

The Franklin County Coroner has identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run crash off US 127 South near Cook Out in Frankfort as 52-year-old Carey Covington.

Following the examination, the coroner’s report read that “it appears Ms. Covington’s injuries are consistent with being struck by a vehicle.”

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Frankfort Police is asking the public for help following a Monday night vehicle versus pedestrian collision that left one person dead.

According to the agency, the collision occurred on an access road off US 127 South near Cook Out just after 7:30 p.m. Eyewitness accounts detail that the vehicle is believed to be a silver passenger car.

“We are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or anyone who may have noticed a silver passenger car with recent front-end damage, to please come forward,” FPD said. “Even the smallest detail could be vital to this investigation.”
