Frankfort Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites sponsor mural painting camps
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The City of Frankfort’s Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites Department is partnering with the Frankfort Rotary Club, Capital City Museum and Full Circle Studio & Gallery to sponsor the 2016 Kentucky River Children’s Mural Painting Summer Camps.
Children will be working with artists Jennifer Zingg and Travis Kelley to paint the mural adjacent to the Ward Oates Amphitheater. “We’re excited to be part of these camps again this year. They are a great way to get children involved in arts, the river and our community,” said Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites Director Jim Parrish.
The camps run from Monday through Friday for three weeks in June and one week in August. There are two sessions per day; a morning session which runs 8 a.m. until noon and an afternoon session that runs from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Dates for the camp are June 6 – 10; June 13 – 17; June 20 – 24 and August 1 – 5. Each session is $100 per child with a 10% discounts for siblings. Full or partial scholarships are available based on financial need.
“Working with our sponsors allows us to make these camps affordable and our goal is for every child to be able to participate,” Jennifer Zingg explained.
