Frankfort man accused of killing fiancée in mother’s home

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Frankfort man is accused of shooting and killing his fiancée while she was in bed at his mother’s home on Wednesday.

According to Frankfort police, officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Corral Court for a report of a shooting around 3:30 a.m.

Once there, officers found Devin Ellis with “at least one” gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stephen Rife, Ellis’ fiancée was arrested and charged with murder – domestic violence.

His bond is set at $1,000,000.

A preliminary investigation reports Rife “intended to cause death or, with extreme indifference to human life, engaged in conduct that posed a grave risk of death.”

Rife and Ellis were living together at Rife’s mother’s home at the time of the shooting.

A witness told police Rife confessed to shooting Ellis, police said.
