Frankfort Fire Chief Eddie Slone to Retire
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- According to the Frankfort City Manager Cindy Steinhauser, Fire Chief Eddie Slone will be retiring from the department on July 31, 2017.
Slone began his career with the Frankfort Fire and EMS in December 1994.
He became Sergeant in 1999, Lieutenant in 2002, Captain in 2004, and Battalion Chief in 2006.
In 2009, he was named Assistant Chief under former Chief Wallace Possich.
He was named Fire Chief in the summer of 2013.
During Chief Slone’s time as chief, the Frankfort Fire Department received an Insurance Services Office (ISO) review raising the department’s rating from a rating of 3 to an ISO rating of 2 in 2014.
Slone worked with Georgetown Fire Chief John Ward to implement a joint training program for both fire departments in 2015.
The training enables trainees to have a more realistic training experience and allows both departments to share resources.
Chief Slone was named Career Fire Chief of the year in 2016 by the Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs.
Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Briscoe will act as interim Fire Chief after Slone’s retirement in accordance with the Fire Department’s operational chain of command.
