FPD: Captain’s badge and handgun stolen

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Frankfort police are investigating the overnight theft of a Captain’s badge and a Glock 27 handgun from a locked, unmarked police vehicle parked in the driveway of an officer’s home.

Police say the car was broken into and a gym bag containing the items was taken.  Officers are urging Frankfort residents to be on the lookout.

In a press release, Frankfort police are reminding everyone, "If anyone approaches you with just a badge identifying him or herself as a law enforcement officer ask to see their departmental photo identification card. Any legitimate officer should be able to show you this information."

Frankfort Police are asking that anyone who may have information on this crime to please call them at (502) 875-8523.
