UPDATE: Hazard Police reconstruct deadly four vehicle crash

The accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday near the Walmart

Update from December 23, 2021:

HAZARD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Hazard Police scheduled to close sections of Highway 80 on Wednesday afternoon near the Walmart in Hazard, to reconstruct a four-vehicle accident that happened at that location on Tuesday that left one person dead and another who was airlifted to a hospital in Tennessee, according to investigators.

Police say the accident began when a truck overturned.  One crash victim was airlifted from the scene to a hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee, according to police.  The victim’s name wasn’t immediately available.

ABC 36 News has reached out to the coroner in Perry County for the identification of the person who was killed in the crash.

HAZARD, Ky. (WTVQ) – At least one person was airlifted from the scene of a four-vehicle accident near the Walmart in Hazard on Wednesday, according to Hazard Police.

Highway 80 was temporarily closed in both directions at the crash site from 5:53 p.m. until 8:50 p.m., according to police.

The names of those involved were not immediately released.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
