Four Ky. Students chosen for Service Academies
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Congressman Andy Barr hosted an Academy Sendoff Press conference this morning, for four Central Kentucky appointees who will be entering the U.S. Merchant marine Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy.
Zane Logan graduated from George Rogers Clark Highschool, and is the Appointee for the US Merchant Marine Academy.
William Bosser from Lafayette Highschool and William Castillo from Lexington Christian Academy will be heading to the US Naval Academy.
Members of Congress may nominate only a small number of students each year, for four service academies. After nomination, officials say each Service Academy selects which students will receive an appointment to attend.
With admittance to a service academy, authorities say, comes with the commitment and obligation to serve in the military after graduation, for at least 5 years.
