Fort Campbell to restrict alcohol sale hours

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) — Soldiers at Fort Campbell who want to get a drink on post will have limited hours to do so starting Nov. 1.

Garrison Commander Col. David "Buck" Dellinger is imposing restrictions on booze sales. Sales will be limited to 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Dellinger cited statistics showing 95 of the 107 DUI charges issued within the past five quarters took place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. Sixty-six of the 88 non-DUI alcohol-related incidents that took place in that time period occurred between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Implementation of the new hours will bring Fort Campbell in line with retail sales guidelines for both Kentucky and Tennessee.
