Former UK football player accused of stabbing two UAB teammates

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A former University of Kentucky football player is accused of stabbing two teammates early Saturday morning, just hours before the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s game against the University of South Florida.

According to UAB’s interim head coach, both wounded players were hospitalized and reported to be in stable condition.

Jefferson County Jail records show Daniel Mincey — who transferred to UAB in May — was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and attempted murder.

UAB officials say the stabbing occurred on campus at the football operations building. The university has not released the names of the players involved.
