Former U of L official pleads guilty to theft
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The former executive director of University of Louisville’s Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine has pleaded guilty to theft other charges in federal court.
Perry Chadwick Vaughn of Sellersburg, Indiana, was accused of stealing $2.8 million in patient payments and other funds over a six-year period.
A statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office says Vaughn admitted to diverting checks and patient payments to an account from which he withdrew $2.8 million for his personal use.
Vaughn was fired in September.
The Courier-Journal reported at the time that Vaughn was one of at least six university employees accused during the previous five years of stealing the school’s money or grant funds under its control.
