Former teacher back in court on hit-and-run crash
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A former Lexington elementary school teacher accused in a serious hit-and-run case is due back in court this morning.
Jaime Caldwell, 29, is scheduled for a pre-trial conference at 10:30 a.m. She previously pleaded not guilty to charges including DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police say Caldwell struck a pedestrian on Georgetown Road in April, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries. Officers arrested her later that day at Glendover Elementary, where she worked as a teacher.
A breath test showed Caldwell’s blood alcohol level was nearly three and a half times the legal limit, according to investigators. She remains free on bond.
