Former teacher arrested on sex charges
HAZARD, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — A former Hazard Middle School teacher has been arrested on charges that include first-degree sexual abuse.
According to the Hazard Herald, a Perry County grand jury indicted 42-year-old Monty Clay Salyer II, of Oak Street in Hazard, on September 12. The indictment alleges that last month Salyer subjected a child under the age of 18 to sexual contact while in a position of authority or special trust.
The indictment also charges Salyer with two counts of tampering with physical evidence for allegedly deleting Snapchat and TikTok accounts.
Salyer was booked into the Kentucky River Regional Jail on a $15,000 cash bond with conditions that he have no contact with the alleged victim or anyone under the age of 18.
