Former Scott County Resident Guilty In Baby Daughter’s Starvation Death
Tiffany Klapheke, 23, was found guilty in Abilene, Texas, where she was accused of neglecting and starving her three young daughters.
Tamryn Klapheke, 22-months, was found dead in her crib in August 2012 on the Air Force base where they lived.
Klapheke’s husband, Airman Thomas Klapheke, of Lexington, was deployed overseas at the time of the death.
The couple has since divorced.
Prosecutors said Tiffany locked 22-month old Tamryn in her room for four days without any food, water or care.
Investigators said Tamryn had burns on her body from sitting in her own waste.
Police described the condition in the home as deplorable, which included human and animal waste on the floors.
Klapheke’s two other daughters were hospitalized for malnutrition and dehydration, but survived.
Tiffany Klapheke did not testify at her trial.
She had said her husband’s deployment left her too stressed to care for the couple’s three young children, according to published reports.
