Former Robertson County Sheriff indicted following DUI arrest in Mason County

MASON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Mason County grand jury has indicted former Robertson County Sheriff Terry Gray following his DUI arrest earlier this week.

As previously reported, Gray was arrested Tuesday night in Mason County after allegedly speeding and driving recklessly with lights and sirens activated in a pickup truck. According to the arrest citation, Mason County deputies said Gray told them he had “lost a vehicle” he was trying to locate near the Robertson–Mason County line.

Deputies also reported finding a miniature bottle of Fireball whiskey in Gray’s pocket and said they could smell alcohol on him at the time of his arrest.

Governor Andy Beshear called on Gray to resign after learning of the incident, saying that if he did not step down voluntarily, the state would begin proceedings to remove him from office for neglect of duty. Gray submitted his resignation Thursday.

A circuit court date for Gray’s latest charges has not yet been scheduled.
