Former Lexington Mayor Isabel Yates dies at 100
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Isabel Yates, the former vice mayor of Lexington, has died at 100.
According to Milward Funeral home, Yates passed away on Wednesday.
Yates became a resident of Lexington in 1963, where she raised four children and served as a tour director, her obituary states. Fondly called “Mrs. Fundraiser,” Yates was well known for her community service and volunteerism in the city.
Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton posted a message on social media in which she described Yates as “an amazing force for good who had a huge impact in our community.” Gorton went on to call Yates “the definition of a steel magnolia.”
A funeral service for Yates will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday, March 4th at 2 P.M.
A visitation will be held at the same location from 5-8 P.M. on Monday, March 3rd.
