Former Kentucky sheriff faces embezzlement charges

LARUE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)-A former Kentucky sheriff is facing embezzlement charges for reportedly taking money while in office.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, 58-year-old Bobby Carlton Shoffner from Hodgenville has been charged with embezzling more than $5,000 between 2011 and 2012 when he was serving as LaRue County sheriff.

The US Attorney’s Office says at that time the county got more than $10,000 of federal money.
