Former Kentucky, Atlanta Falcons receiver Quentin McCord passes away

LEXINGTON, KY (WTVQ) – Former Kentucky wide receiver Quentin McCord has passed away. He was 42.

McCord played at Kentucky from 1996 to 2000. During his career he caught 112 passes for 1,743 yards and 15 touchdowns. McCord’s quarterback in college was Tim Couch. Couch tweeted his condolences on Thursday.

Kentucky football tweeted highlights from two of McCord’s biggest plays which were also two of the program’s biggest road wins in UK history.

The late great Quentin McCord made huge plays in two of the biggest road wins in UK history.

In 1998 at No. 21 LSU, his end-around run set up the game-winning FG as time expired.

After leaving Kentucky, McCord was drafted in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. In three seasons with the Falcons, McCord accumulated 23 catches for 427 yards and a touchdown. McCord also spent time with the Oakland Raiders and with the Winnipeg Blue Raiders and Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League.
