Former Georgetown police officer passes away

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Georgetown community is mourning the loss of a beloved veteran and longtime public servant.

Ronald J. Carroll, 73, of Georgetown, passed away on April 16. Carroll dedicated nearly three decades to the Georgetown Police Department, serving with distinction for 29 years.

He was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Desert Storm, and continued his commitment to public service after his police career as a court bailiff. Carroll was also elected constable three times by the community he served.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Tuesday at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Georgetown Cemetery.
