Former Estill County teacher accused of hitting child
ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A former Estill County High School teacher is facing more charges after being accused of punching a child.
Sherry Murphy was already charged for failing to tell authorities her boyfriend, Torstein Torsteinson, was sending sexually suggestive messages to students, according to police.
Police say Murphy also deleted the messages to keep others from finding them.
Kentucky State Police say on April 18, while investigating that case, they learned Murphy hit a female juvenile in the mouth then made her lie about it to authorities.
In addition to unlawful transaction with a minor, tampering with physical evidence and failure to report child abuse, Murphy is now charged with child abuse and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
She remains on home incarceration because of a back injury, according to police.
