Former Auburn QB Joey Gatewood transferring to Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY (WTVQ) – On Thursday, former Auburn quarterback Joey Gatewood announced via Twitter he’s transferring to Kentucky.

The former four-star recruit announced he would be leaving Auburn and seeking other options on October 30.

He visited Kentucky on November 10th.

Unless he receives a waiver to play next season, Gatewood will have to sit out the entire 2020 season.

While at Auburn, the Florida native played in eight games.

In 2019, he was 5 for 7 for 54 yards passing and two touchdowns.

On the ground, he rushed 29 times for 148 yards and three touchdowns.

As a recruit, 247 Sports had Gatewood as the 49th-ranked recruit in the country and the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback.
