Footprints in snow lead deputies to suspect

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say they tracked a suspect’s footprints in the snow which led them to a garage where the man was hiding under a vehicle. Investigators say it all began around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday with a report of a non-injury traffic crash involving a Dodge Durango that was on its top.

Investigators say when they arrived, the driver of the car had run away from the scene. They say that’s when they picked-up his footprints in the snow, which led them to the detached garage off of Hawk Creek Road, west of London.

Deputies say that’s where they found the driver, 31-year old Charles Duff of London. They say Duff was carrying crystal meth, Xanax, hypodermic needles and a marijuana pipe. Investigators say Duff was under the influence.

He was charged with a number of drug-related crimes, burglary and was carrying an EBT card that didn’t belong to him, according to investigators.

Duff was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
