Food Angels raise more than a quarter million dollars
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kroger says its Lexington customers raised $300,624 with the Salvation Army Food Angel program over the holidays.
That amount helped the Salvation Army give more than 12,000 Christmas dinners to local children and their families.
The Food Angels program is one of many that are prat of Kroger’s Zero Hunger Zero Waste strategy. It is an attempt to end hunger and food waste in Kroger’s communities by 2025.
“I am very proud to be a part of the communities we serve, and it is through these partnerships that we live our purpose to Feed the Human Spirit!” said Kroger Louisville Division President Ann Reed. “I am always humbled by what we accomplish and have no doubt that we will end hunger and fulfill our Zero Hunger Zero Waste goals.”
Kroger says the Food Angels program is so important because shared meals help children thrive.
