Florida increases lead over Kentucky with one day left in blood drive competition
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Florida pulled out to a 64-point advantage on Thursday against Kentucky in the 10th annual Big Blue Slam. The Gators now lead the Cats, 1,231 to 1,167, with one day to go.
“Tomorrow is the last day and the last chance to beat those Gators!” said Martha Osborne, Vice President of Marketing for Kentucky Blood Center (KBC). “It’s been a good week, but we need a really strong finish to assure a win and a strong blood supply, which will certainly help after recent winter weather impacted blood donations.”
To encourage donations tomorrow, everyone who registers to give blood at a KBC donor center will receive a movie ticket in addition to a Big Blue Slam shirt.
KBC and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Florida enjoy this friendly competition every January to see whose donors can give the most blood. Kentucky leads the Gators in this blood battle, 5 to 4.
