Florida fans retake the lead in Big Blue Slam blood drive
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – As the Big Blue Slam blood drive competition enters its fourth day, Florida fans have reclaimed the lead over Kentucky, according to the Kentucky Blood Center (KBC).
KBC reports that Florida now leads Kentucky 757 to 724 after their biggest donation day yet, with nearly 270 donors stepping up.
Despite the setback, KBC encourages Big Blue Nation to rally, as there are still two days left in the competition. The final day for donations is Friday, and every donor at a KBC center will receive a free retro Big Blue Slam T-shirt.
The competition, which pits Kentucky fans against Florida fans in a friendly rivalry, helps boost critical blood supplies following winter weather cancellations and seasonal illnesses.
