Florida bodycam video shows Kentucky Powerball winner arrested after altercation with deputy
ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Newly released body camera video shows the arrest of a recent Kentucky Powerball winner accused of attacking a Florida deputy.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened in April at the TradeWinds Resort on St. Pete Beach. Deputies were called to break up a fight between 50-year-old James Farthing and another hotel guest.
Video shows a responding deputy approaching the scene when, according to an arrest affidavit, Farthing allegedly kicked the deputy in the face. Investigators say he then tried to run from the hotel but was quickly caught and taken into custody.
Farthing is now facing multiple charges, including resisting an officer with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Deputies say Farthing’s girlfriend, who had been arguing with other guests, was also arrested for disorderly conduct.
