Flooding Closes Fayette County Circuit Court

Fayette County Circuit Court will be closed on Monday after a waterline ruptured, flooding part of the courthouse.
Emergency crews were called to the courthouse on North Limestone just before 9 p.m. Sunday after someone noticed the flooding.
According to Fayette Circuit Court Judge Pamela Goodwine, there was three inches of water on the floor when crews arrived. She said much of the flooding was contained to the middle of the courthouse.
Water did reach some files but the full extent of the damage isn’t known yet.
There are no jury trials scheduled for Monday. All hearings scheduled for the day will be rescheduled.
Goodwine said all circuit court employees scheduled to work Monday should show up dressed to help with the cleanup.
She said they expect to have the courthouse reopened by Tuesday but that the cleanup could take up to five days.
