Fleming County road closed since January, could be open by early May

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 19, to replace a deteriorated culvert bridge and reopen KY 681 – Buchanan Road – in Fleming County.

The road has been closed at mile point 1.9 since Jan. 15, after Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers determined the culvert presented a safety hazard. It was among several such bridges closed around Kentucky at that time on the basis of a statewide analysis of steel culverts.

Other than final resurfacing, the replacement culvert should be installed within about two weeks, barring unforeseeable delays.

Motorists are advised to exercise heightened caution in and around the work zone.
