Flat Lick Man Arrested in Dewitt School Burglary
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. — A Flat Lick man has been arrested in connection with a burglary at Dewitt School, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s officials say Knox County School Resource Officer Elijah Broughton arrested 27-year-old Anthony Mills on Friday, January 16, following an investigation into a burglary at the school. Mills was taken into custody near the 1600 block of KY 223 in Scalf, with assistance from Deputy David Dunn.
Investigators say surveillance footage showed Mills breaking out a window and entering a storage building at Dewitt School on December 26, 2025, around 2:30 a.m. During the burglary, officials say several Google Chromebooks belonging to the school were taken, along with cases of soft drinks and boxes of chips.
Mills was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center and charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 but under $10,000.
He was also served with an outstanding warrant obtained by Deputy Dunn for second-degree criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, fourth-degree assault, and first-degree wanton endangerment.
During the arrest, officials say the driver of the vehicle, identified as Mills’ girlfriend, Selena Mills, was also taken into custody. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license and no registration.
The investigation remains ongoing.
