Flags at half-staff to honor synagogue shooting victims
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – All flags at state office buildings in Kentucky are being lowered to honor the victims of the shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
Governor Matt Bevin ordered both American and state flags at public office buildings lowered to half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on October 31, 2018 out of respect for those killed at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
“Kentucky joins our nation in mourning those who were brutally slain this weekend while worshiping in Pittsburgh,” Bevin said in a release. “We earnestly pray for healing for the loved ones, fellow congregants and all community members impacted by this despicable act of evil.”
The governor asked that all individuals, businesses, organizations, and government agencies join in the tribute and lower their flags.
