Five people injured in Boyle County collision

DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Five people from Hustonville were injured Tuesday night after the pickup truck they were in collided with a semi carrying cattle in Boyle County. Danville Police say the accident happened around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of South Danville Bypass and Southtown Drive.

Investigators say the semi, carrying approximately 63-cattle, was westbound on the bypass when it collided with a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck upon entering the intersection. Police say the semi driver, 50-year old Harry Dundee of Stanwood, Iowa, was not hurt. The driver of the pickup, 46-year old Brent Ellis of Hustonville, along with four occupants, were taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville for various injuries that ranged from precautionary to serious, according to investigators.

The westbound lanes of the bypass were shut down for approximately 4-hours while emergency crews worked the collision and help was brought in to unload the uninjured cattle onto a second semi, which came from Stanford, according to police.

Investigators say the people in the pickup were identified as the driver, Brent Ellis, 36-year old Sarah Gundy, 18-year old Alexis Hardy, 13-year old Zack Gundy and 8-year old Lucian Ellis, all of Hustonville. The collision remains under investigation, according to police.
