Organizers hope first “Winburn Day” inspires next generation

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Winburn community held its first “Winburn Day” Saturday afternoon at Martin Luther King Park in Lexington. 12 guys in the Winburn community started a group chat where they talked about giving back to the kids in their community. Food, inflatables and group games are just some of the activities these men planned for the day.

“When you hear about Winburn it’s not a lot of good things so right now with us doing this and us banding together as a community and coming in and cleaning up our community, we can just make anything happen,” says Jaron Jones, co-director of the event.

Organizers say they hope Winburn Day becomes an annual event that continually gets bigger so they can incorporate things like 3-on-3 softball tournaments.
