Firefighters save dog from Bath County house fire

BATH COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — Firefighters in Bath County saved a dog from a house fire on Wade Drive Friday morning.

Salt Lick Fire Department and the Owingsville Fire Department responded to the scene.

The fire was contained to one room and put out quickly but there was a lot of smoke, according to fire officials.

In searching the home firefighters found a small dog alive, but unresponsive.

Emergency crews helped give the dog oxygen and he quickly improved.

Chief Brent Frizzell says, “Anytime that you can make a difference like that, obviously this is not a human but it’s an animal and everyone loves their animals so it’s nice to make a difference like that.”

He says the dog was doing really well when they left the scene and he was even out running around in the yard.

The cause of fire is still under investigation.
