Firefighters believe wind helped spark fire
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) According to Jessamine County firefighters, the wind could be to blame for a fire in Nicholasville.
Crews were called to a home in the 100 block of Ash Drive just before midnight.
The homeowners say they looked outside and spotted their storage building on fire.
Firefighters tell us they believe a burn barrel re-ignited and the wind blew burning embers onto the building, starting the fire. Some nearby power lines also caught fire.
Fire Chief Michael Rupard says, “the high winds was driving the fire, making it burn hot, faster, it caught several trees on fire. Right now we’re back in a tree line trying to put all the trees out.
Crews say that fire brought a transformer and a pole down. Both landing in the back yard and taking out electricity to the home.
