Fired Louisville officer’s record dotted with reprimands

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Records show an officer who was fired over sex abuse charges involving a former Explorer Scout had been reprimanded earlier during his career with Louisville Metro Police.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville reports (http://cjky.it/2omwvZy) that in eight years with the department, 30-year-old former officer Brandon Wood was reprimanded for infractions such as failing to make court appearances and disobeying orders.

In 2013, Wood was suspended for opening fire at a suspect who was fleeing in a stolen vehicle. No one was injured.

Wood and another former officer are accused of sexually assaulting a boy in the department’s Youth Explorer program. Wood has been indicted on seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse related to the allegations.

Wood’s lawyer, Steve Schroering, has said his client will fight the charges.
