Fire Safety Prevention Festival

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Several families were out enjoying the sunshine at Masterson Station Park during a fire prevention festival.

The Lexington Fire Department hosted giving out free food, fire safety tips, and fire truck rides. Even though the event was tons of fun, it focused on an important theme: planning how to get out of your house in case of fire.

“The big emphasis this year, this is from the National Fire Protection Association, is to know two ways out of your home. Obviously if there is a fire you may not be able to get out the way you typically go so it’s important for families to practice those alternate exit routes before there is an emergency.”

Firefighters suggest you make two exit plans with your family then practice them so they become part of your muscle memory.
