Fire Reported On Plane, Lands At Blue Grass Airport

Some anxious moments Thursday night at the Blue Grass Airport after a pilot reported a fire on a plane. There were four passengers aboard that private flight when the fire was reported to air traffic controllers shortly after 11 p.m.
The plane landed safely and the fire was already out when crews with the Lexington Fire Department arrived. An airport official said the fire started in the cockpit. All passengers were safely evacuated from the plane. There were no details on whether the pilot and passengers were from Kentucky or whether Blue Grass Airport was the intended destination of the flight. ABC36 was told that no other flights were delayed because of the fire. The official said the aircraft was towed off the tarmac and will be out of service pending further investigation.
