Fire destroys home and garage in Garrard County amid hazardous conditions
BUCKEYE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A fire engulfed a home and detached garage early Tuesday morning in the Buckeye community in Garrard County, according to a Facebook post from the Garrard County EMA/CSEPP.
The post states that just before 3:30, a homeowner reported the fire, and when Buckeye Fire Department arrived, the structure was already fully involved, with flames spreading to the garage. Emergency responders faced significant challenges due to heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions, which made reaching the scene difficult according to the post.
Despite the conditions, multiple fire departments, including District One FD, Lancaster FD, and Cartersville FD, assisted in battling the fire. Garrard County EMS, the Garrard County Sheriff’s Department, and Garrard County Emergency Management also responded.
After more than three hours, crews were able to put out the fire. According to the post, no injuries were reported among first responders or property owners. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
