Fire damages CTA Acoustics in Corbin

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fire damaged CTA Acoustics in Corbin on Tuesday evening. There were employees in the facility at the time of the fire, but they all managed to get out safely, according to fire officials. The fire reportedly started around 6:30 p.m.

Witnesses described seeing an orange glow and smoke coming from the building. Firefighters from several area departments were called-in to fight the fire. Firefighters from the Corbin Fire Department, West Knox, Woodbine and Laurel County department’s all fought the fire. The cause was under investigation.

The company makes insulation for vehicles. It’s located in the Southeast Kentucky Regional Business Park off the Corbin Bypass. There have been fires at the business in the past, but none worse than an explosion and fire that killed 7-people and injured dozens more in 2003.
