Fire at Boyd Orchards in Woodford County
VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two barns caught fire Wednesday night at Boyd Orchards in Woodford County, according to farm owner Terry Boyd. Emergency dispatchers say the call came in around 8:20 p.m.
Terry Boyd says the barns were 200-yards away from areas used by visitors, so the orchard will be open for business as usual on Thursday.
Boyd says the two barns were used to store equipment and chemicals.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Boyd’s of Boyd Orchards are 5th generation fruit growers.
The family’s popular farm draws visitors from all over the country. The farm offers fruits and vegetables of the season, including U-Pick strawberries, Blackberries, Apples and Pumpkins.
It’s a popular destination for children. The farm has a unique playground, big slides, a pirate ship and a hay castle.
There is also an animal center, café, and gift shop.
In the fall there are hayrides, a corn maze and bonfire areas.
