Filson Society ready to show off new history building

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – The Filson Historical Society is opening the doors of its new history center in Louisville for the first time.

The group’s new Owsley Brown II History Center features five floors of archival storage and two floors of multi-purpose event and exhibit space. The $12 million project also includes the renovation of the group’s headquarters in Old Louisville, where it has been since 1986.

The project also includes new exhibit galleries, library, a research facility and creation of a landscaped, park-like campus.

Congressman John Yarmuth and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer are expected to attend the Thursday morning event at 10:30 a.m.
