Felicia and Joshua Gross due in court Sept. 5 in death of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer

BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The mother and stepfather of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer are scheduled to return to court in two weeks.

According to court records, 33-year-old Felicia Gross, who is charged with murder, and her husband, Joshua Gross, who is charged with complicity to murder, will appear for arraignments in Breathitt County on Friday, September 5.

Earlier this week, prosecutors upgraded Felicia Gross’s charges from manslaughter to murder. Both she and her husband are also charged with false reporting, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence.

Jayden Spicer was reported missing on August 6. Days later, investigators say his body was found buried in a wooded area in Breathitt County. Detectives allege Felicia Gross admitted to giving the child sleeping medication, which she claimed caused a medical emergency before his death.

The case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
