Federal charges filed against KY man accused of leaking medical information
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky man is facing federal charges after being accused of leaking sensitive medical data from Singapore.
Mikhy Farrera-Brochez, of Winchester, is charged with unlawful transfer of stolen identification documents and possession with intent to distribute.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Farrera-Brochez sent e-mails to news outlets and several government officials in Singapore containing links to the data stolen from identification documents including medical records of 14,200 people living with HIV.
Farrera-Brochez is scheduled to appear in federal court in Lexington February 27.
