FCPS School Board votes to renew Superintendent until 2029
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — On Monday, the Fayette County School Board voted 3-2 to renew the contract of Superintendent, Dr. Demetrus Liggins.
This comes after two petitions were created on in opposition of a renewal, and one in favor of keeping Dr. Liggins.
The meeting included input from parents, school staff and others.
Those in favor of Dr. Liggins as superintendent, praised him for his work with the school system.
Those who opposed the renewal, added that they wanted to see more from Dr. Liggins’ especially given his hefty salary.
The contract renewal only changed the dates, and it extends the contract until Summer of 2029.
