FCPS no longer recommending increase in meal prices for the 2025-2026 school year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Fayette County Public School officials reportedly had been discussing the possibility of increasing school lunch prices.

In a budget workshop, officials discussed a potential 50-cent increase for student and adult meals with a possible vote next month.
We reached out to FCPS for comment, who sent us the following statement:
The purpose of the budget workshop is to provide an opportunity for the administration to receive feedback from the Board of Education on budget priorities. It’s important to note that items discussed or proposed during the workshop are not guaranteed to appear in the final budget recommendations presented for board approval. One such example is the discussion around lunch prices. Based on feedback from board members during and following the workshop, administration is no longer recommending an increase in meal prices for the 2025–26 school year,”  said Dia Davidson-Smith, the FCPS District Spokesperson.
