FCPS leaders to make early call on Wednesday classes as weather impacts continue

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Leaders with Fayette County Public Schools say a decision about classes for Wednesday, Feb. 4, will be made early in the morning as winter weather continues to affect roads across the district.

District officials plan to announce whether schools will be open by 5 a.m. Wednesday. In the meantime, all afternoon and evening activities for Tuesday have already been canceled because of ongoing road conditions.

Families are encouraged to check FCPS.net/weather for the district’s latest updates and weather guidelines.

So far this school year, FCPS has used four nontraditional instruction (NTI) days on Jan. 26, 27, 28 and 29. The district has also called six snow days — Dec. 2, Dec. 12, Dec. 15, Jan. 30, Feb. 2 and Feb. 3.

Only one make-up day has been officially confirmed for students so far: March 20. District leaders say other possible make-up dates are listed on the instructional calendar if more weather closures are needed.
