FCPS cancels employee convocation due to cost concerns
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Fayette County Public Schools has canceled its employee back-to-school convocation, which was set to take place next week at Rupp Arena. The decision follows concerns over the expenses associated with the event’s keynote speaker, Ron Clark.
Originally scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, the convocation will not proceed as planned. The district has also terminated its contract with Clark.
In addition to canceling Clark’s appearance, Fayette County Public Schools has revised its agreement with Rupp Arena. The funds for the convocation will now be allocated toward a future event, according to district officials.
