FBI conducts new search in Cox’s Creek, Ky. in connection with Crystal Rogers investigation
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The FBI has launched a new search in Cox’s Creek, Kentucky, as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Crystal Rogers, a Bardstown mother of five who went missing in 2015.
Officials state the search follows tips recently received regarding the case. The FBI has been leading the investigation since 2020, and this latest search is part of the continuing effort to gather new evidence.
In addition to Rogers’ boyfriend, Brooks Houck, who has long been a suspect in her disappearance, the investigation also led to the involvement of a father and son connected to Houck. Steve Lawson and his son, Joseph Lawson, have been linked to the case. Both men reportedly worked for Houck’s family business and have been subjects of the FBI’s inquiries.
In August 2023, Joseph Lawson was arrested on charges unrelated to Rogers’ case, but his name surfaced during the investigation. The FBI has since explored any potential involvement or knowledge the Lawsons might have about the circumstances surrounding Rogers’ disappearance. Both have maintained their innocence.
Crystal Rogers was last seen on July 3, 2015. Her vehicle was found abandoned on the Bluegrass Parkway with her keys, phone, and purse still inside. Rogers’ boyfriend, Brooks Houck, was the last person to see her and has been a primary suspect. However, no charges have been filed against him, and Houck has denied any involvement.
The FBI has conducted multiple searches over the years, including at properties linked to Houck and his family. While human remains were found during one of the searches, they were not identified as Rogers.
The current search in Cox’s Creek is the latest development in the ongoing investigation, as authorities continue to follow up on leads and tips from the public.
Anyone with information about Crystal Rogers’ disappearance is encouraged to contact the FBI or Kentucky State Police.
