Fayette Schools start moving central offices this month

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/Press Release) – During November, Fayette County Public Schools

701 E. Main St., Fayette Schools offices

is moving its district office operations from 701 E. Main St. to 450 Park Place in Lexington.

The mailing address remains 1126 Russell Cave Rd., 40505, and the phone number is still (859) 381-4100.

The staff will shift gradually over several weeks, a few departments at a time. Please call before stopping by either location, as some services will be temporarily unavailable. In-person visits are already limited because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

For now, the monthly school board action meetings will continue in Norsworthy Auditorium at 701 E. Main.

Community members may attend, but public comment is not allowed because of health precautions. School board meetings are also streamed live on local cable stations and the FCPS YouTube channel.

The Guy S. Potts Building at 701 E. Main St. opened in 1928 as Henry Clay High School.

It was the largest city high school in Lexington at the time. In 1970, Henry Clay moved to Fontaine Road, and the Main Street facility was renovated for district offices and renamed for Potts, who served as superintendent from 1961 to 1984.
