Fayette County Public Schools seeks public input to name new elementary school

LEXINGTON, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Fayette County Public Schools is asking for the public’s help in naming its newest elementary school, which is currently under construction.

According to district officials, community members are invited to submit name suggestions that meet one of several criteria. Proposed names must honor a prominent local, state or national figure of good character, such as Rosa Parks; recognize a prominent individual who contributed to the history of the Lexington area, such as Henry Clay; or reflect a geographic area, such as Leestown.

Officials say the naming survey is anonymous, and participants may submit multiple entries.

The survey will remain open until 6 p.m. on Jan. 19. District leaders say public input will be considered as part of the school-naming process.
