Fayette County Health officials confirm 4 new measles cases
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) — A measles outbreak continues to grow in Central Kentucky after health officials confirmed four new cases in Lexington this week.
According to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, the four new cases were all in one household, which includes the first confirmed Lexington patient linked to the recent Fayette and Woodford County outbreak.
Health officials say there are now eight cases connected to the outbreak, and all patients are currently in quarantine.
Statewide, officials report a total of 11 measles cases so far this year.
Health experts continue to urge residents to ensure they are up to date on vaccinations to help prevent the spread of this highly contagious disease.
